Sumitomo (SHI) Demag Plans for ‘Electric’ K 2025 - Booth #
Debuts include an all-electric multicomponent IntElect 350t combined with a SAM-C20 robot and two high-speed PAC-E machines targeting high-speed packaging applications.
German/Japanese maker of injection molding machines, Sumitomo (SHI) Demag, will display eight all-electric machines at K 2025, providing options from its IntElect platform for a variety of market segments. Among the debuts is a 350-metric-ton IntElect 350t all-electric multicomponent machine combined with a SAM-C20 robot, featuring adjustable nozzle distance for added flexibility. The secondary injection unit is in the “R-Position” situated in a 45° angle above the main unit in a “piggyback” position.
The integrated top-entry SAM-C20 robot provides automation without impacting the machine’s footprint, and Sumitomo (SHI) Demag says the fact that it’s also built in-house will show attendees the benefits of partnering with a single supplier capable of customization, technology integration and cell validation, including the installation of all safety components, peripherals, conveyors and more.

A 420-ton PAC-E machine will run closures from a 72-cavity Z-Moulds tool with CAPrint inline digital printing, Eisbär mold area dehumidification and IMDVista inspection and box packing. The second 420-ton PAC-E machine, featuring clean toggle technology, will showcase multicavity medical molding from an Otto Hofstetter tool, with automation by Zubler.
In automation, the SAM-C5 will be presented as a standalone robot to emphasize its key features. The company notes that when mounted on an IntElect 75t machine, the entire system measures less than 10 ft. in total height, making it ideal for space-constrained environments.
Sumitomo (SHI) Demag will have three IntElect liquid silicone rubber (LSR) exhibits, including one at its booth, and the other two at metering and dispensing suppliers Nexus and Kracht. Partner exhibits will include Sepro using an IntElect S 130t to mold a 15-ml centrifuge tube cap, and Technotrans producing reusable and reclosable lids on an IntElect S 75t machine with a SAM-C robot.
In controls and digitization, the company says all machines on the main booth will be connected through its myAssist “digital process companion”, and it noted that it will expand on how OPC UA will enable customers to select modules that match their process needs.
Reflecting the larger Sumitomo Heavy Industries group, a Moriyama Mixer also will be on display. Developed by German metal forming specialist Leifeld in collaboration with Japanese SHI subsidiary Nihon Spindle Manufacturing, the company says the mixer enables rapid material changes and is fully compliant with European standards.
Specially designed for medical molding, a 420-ton PAC-E machine will run an Otto Hofstetter tool at K 2025.
