Plastics solutions supplier PCS Company celebrated its 75th anniversary with a week of festivities, reflecting a legacy that runs parallel to MoldMaking Technology’s own. A loyal supporter since the magazine’s first issue in 1998 — and still a dedicated advertiser — PCS has been part of MMT’s mission to serve the moldmaking industry for more than 25 years. This anniversary is more than a milestone — it’s a story of people, values and leadership across generations.

The anniversary celebrations kicked off on Aug. 13 with an open house and luncheon at PCS headquarters in Fraser, Michigan, featuring birthday cake, custom shirts and a special recognition presentation. Special guests included Jim Stuart, son of founder Jim Stuart and former company president, who received an ‘ejector pin’ of recognition, along with several retired employees.

Founded in 1950 as R & S Tool in Warren, Michigan, the family-owned business originally manufactured cutting tools. In 1968, PCS Company was formed, merging with R & S Tool. The name stands for Pins, Cores and Sleeves, the company’s first products. Today, PCS operates as part of the Misumi Group, providing a broad range of solutions to the global moldmaking industry.

For former leader Jim Stuart, who guided the company for nearly five  decades, the highlight of his career was the people. A low turnover rate, loyal employees and shared growth made PCS feel like family. He also recalls a defining decision — embracing trade media advertising — that helped transform the company. “It made us a much bigger company with much more opportunity,” Stuart says, admitting he only wished he had done it sooner. Trade shows, too, were a source of pride, as PCS’ booth expanded from 10 feet to 40, symbolizing the company’s growth and industry presence.

Today, President Angela Elsey carries that same people-first approach forward. For her, trust and respect are not slogans but daily practices that shape how PCS works. Employees are encouraged to share ideas, raise challenges and even admit mistakes, knowing leaders will listen and “close the loop.” That culture of respect has helped PCS earn Top Workplace honors three years in a row — recognition driven directly by employee feedback.

Looking ahead, both leaders agree: PCS’ foundation is strong and the future of U.S. moldmaking presents endless opportunity.

“Seventy-five years is unbelievable,” Elsey told employees. “I can’t be more proud to be just a small part of this history and grateful to all of you. I can’t wait to see where we go from here.”
