Wohlers Associates, America Makes Offer 1-Day Design for Additive Manufacturing Course

Wohlers Associates and America Makes are partnering to offer a one-day design for additive manufacturing (DfAM) course for managers and executives on October 24, 2019. Following the success of previous DfAM courses conducted for engineers and designers on four continents, this course is the company’s first foray into educating management on wide ranging issues associated with DfAM. The course will follow the two-day members meeting and exchange held at America Makes’ headquarters in Youngstown, Ohio. The course is open to the public, with members of America Makes enjoying discounted pricing.

85 Trainees and Students Begin Apprenticeship at Arburg

A total of 85 new trainees and students from the Baden-Württemberg Cooperative State University began their apprenticeship at Arburg on 2 September 2019. Managing Partner Renate Keinath, responsible for human resources management at the company, welcomed the new trainees and students on behalf of the partners and management, the apprenticeship team and all employees. Arburg works closely with the vocational schools and cooperative universities in the federal state to maintain the high level of apprenticeship. In addition, Arburg is the first company in Baden-Württemberg to have received triple quality certification.

RJG's Math for Molders eLearning Course Now in Spanish, British Metric

RJG’s Math for Molders — eLearning course is now available in Spanish and British metric in addition to the English version. Math for Molders provides foundational math skills practice needed both in the field and for more advanced RJG courses in an online, self-paced setting. This online eLearning course enables students to complete each module at their own pace, including the option to replay sections as needed, and takes an average of nine to 10 hours to complete. There are eight units in the course, with multiple interactive modules in each that include videos, animations and practice activities. Utilizing real scenarios, molders will be more prepared to calculate data, enabling them to match mold requirements with appropriate machines and avoid common defects while preventing mold and machine damage.

NIMS Launches Industry Recognized CAM Credentials

The National Institute for Metalworking Skills (NIMS) offers standardized computer aided manufacturing (CAM) credentials, CAM milling and turning. The new credentials are based on standards developed in partnership with and sponsored by Autodesk, a leader in 3D design and engineering software. Over 125 subject matter experts from organizations such as CNC Software, developer of Mastercam; Barefoot CNC; Arkansas State University Mid-South; CamInstructor, and custom machining technology leader, Rosenburger of North America, volunteered their insight during the rigorous development and piloting process of the standards.

Meximold Offers Necessary Technical Information on Mold Manufacturing

Emuge Corp. to Hold Tech Expo

Emuge Corp. will be holding a Tech Expo November 7, 2019 from 9:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at its expanded 26,000 sq. ft. state-of-the-art manufacturing facility that more than doubles the size of the company’s U.S. headquarters and manufacturing/technology center to over 50,000 total sq. ft. SUR/FIN Seeks Presenters for 2020 Finishing Conference

Learning about the surface finishing industry can help your machine shop deal with increasing customer demands and provide operations beyond your shop’s traditional comfort zone. One opportunity to learn more about the surface finishing industry is to attend the National Association for Surface Finishing’s SUR/FIN Manufacturing and Technology Trade Show and Conference, which will take place June 15-17 at the Georgia World Congress Center in Atlanta, Georgia. Right now, SUR/FIN is actively accepting technical paper and presentation abstracts for the 2020 conference. The NASF’s Technology Advisory Committee (TAC) is seeking experts from around the world to give informative, non-commercial presentations about their latest experiences with surface engineering and finishing technologies impacting business today or trending for tomorrow. Submission abstracts are due by November 15, 2019, and preference will be given to early submittals. Submit your abstract.
